Meet Our Doctors

J. Craig Swaim, OD

Dr. Swaim opened his first eye care center at Crabtree Valley Mall in 1982. He then opened Wake Forest Eye Care Center on August 16, 2003, where he’s committed to providing quality, comprehensive, and technology-driven eye care to the Wake Forest community and the surrounding areas. He also serves on the Advisory Board for the School of Opticianry at Durham Technical Institute.

Dr. Swaim serves on the Advisory Board for the School of Opticianry at Durham Technical Institute.

Dr. Swaim has twin sons, Andrew, who serves in the US Navy Special Forces division, and Bradley, who has also attended the prestigious Southern College of Optometry and will be joining the practice.

Thomas R. Miller, O.D., FAAO

We’re excited to welcome Dr. Miller to the Wake Forest Eye Care team!

Dr. Miller has been a practicing optometrist since 2003 and is certified by the American Board of Optometry and the National Board of Opticians. He also holds a fellowship with the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO).

Dr. Miller is a native North Carolinian and a father to Katherine and Matthew. He is an author, lecturer, and moderator with publications in Optometric Management and Review of Optometry. 

His lecture experience includes his time at Fayetteville Technical Community College as a clinical instructor, at Womack Army Medical Center speaking about diabetes, and meeting with senior groups in Eastern North Carolina to talk about the effects of aging on the eye. 

Dr. Miller has been an eye care provider for residents of senior living communities in Fayetteville, NC. He has also served as an eye care consultant to Heritage Family and Northside Urgent Care in Fayetteville.

Doctor of Optometry, Southern College of Optometry, Memphis, TN
